Happy Adoption Day

3 Donut KingsNothing says ‘I love you’ like a Krispy Kreme donut. Right? My three donut-loving boys think so.

Each year, on National Adoption Day, we celebrate life, love, and forever family with a donut. Okay, a LOT of donuts. I try not to freak out about the processed sugar and calories. National Adoption Day only comes once a year. Let’s make it ‘sweet.’

Some folks aren’t comfortable celebrating adoption, particularly in such an open fashion. For many it’s a reminder of a ‘mistake’ they made or a load of regrets they wish they could forget.

But instead I choose to celebrate. I give thanks and pray for the adoption case workers, the family lawyers, the foster parents, and yes, especially the birth parents. Me and many other women would still be crying in our darkness without you.

Because of your sacrifice three black boys (my 3 kings) have a two-parent home where they can focus on loving God with their whole hearts and loving others as themselves. Thank you.

So how about you? How do you celebrate adoption?
